Singapo人 Verticals
DISCOVERING CHINESE SINGAPOREAN CULTURE
The Chinese Singaporean identity is complex and always changing. Singapore is a Chinese majority nation-state with a significant proportion of non-Chinese. At the same time, Singapore is in Southeast Asia, a region with many ethnic groups, of which the Chinese form a small part of the overall population.
After interacting with diverse influences over many years, Chinese culture in Singapore has evolved in a way quite unlike other communities around the world. No matter who you are, there is always room to discover (and rediscover) what it means to be a Chinese Singapo人 (Ren).
PERMANENT EXHIBITION VISUALS
The exhibition focuses on Chinese Singaporean’s values and culture from their origins to the present. We used symbolisms along with vintage elements to form collages, mimicking traditional stop motion with progressive movements and transitions as if evolving.
Frames were laid out bilingually using both the English and Chinese language while still maintaining balance and consistency.
